Well, I don't know exactly know what it was that got me this far, as a fuse blew halfway through checking and cleaning half a dozen circuits until I noticed the fuse was blown. It's a 300 dollar part, or 150 through dfitech, I want to be sure before I replace/repair it. I assume if most of the problems with the PDU's are at each the wire connector, this would explain some of my intermittant problems. But this wouldn't tell me if a connection is intermittant, as I can touch the lead of the ohm meter directly to the contact. So what types of failures are folks seeing with the PDU? When I check continuity with an ohm meter, it all checks out. Could the owner have fried a relay or something attempting to crank/start with a low battery?Īny advice is appreciated, and a wire diagram would be great! I've seen lots of post regarding problems with low batteries. The batteries were on a charger for a couple days, but when I jumped the solonoid it seemed to crank a bit slow. No signal is received on the purple wire into the relay, so I assume the relay is OK but what ever provides the signal via the purple wire (is this accessory off the ignition switch?) is suspect (or the ground coming into the relay as mentioned above.) main power relay at the top rear of engine is getting power to the relay, but no power is coming out. Lot's of corroded grounds, I cleaned up what I could find with no success. (I forgot to check if the Battery connection on the ignition switch has power.) The kill switch is damaged, but I found a wire diagram and test procedure (on this site, thanks!) for the controls harness and the ignition switch is ok. (Interesting to note when I pull this fuse in re-install, I get the engine relay buzz for 10 seconds or so, but still not able to crank or trim tilt.) Theirs a black? wire coming off the panel with an inline 20amp fuse which is good. The 7 10 amp fuses on the engine distribution panel are good. Battery voltage is present on the 2 red wires on the large gauge 4 wire plug that goes into the fuse /relay panel on the motor. No system check beeps nor do the gauges move when the key is turned. The engine will not crank from the key (but I can jump the yellow wire on the solonoid and it will turn.) It act's as if it has no power, yet I read 12.5 volts at the starter solenoid. Here are my symptoms and what I have done so far, any ideas? I'm helping him out and also considering partnering with him on his boat, the Ficht has me worried though.) (This is my neighbors boat in a slip near me. I've got a service manual on order, but went cheap on the shipping so I won't have it for over a week. This is a long shot, but I was hoping someone would have a wire diagram for this engine.
